Fluidity Privacy Policy

Who we are
Fluidity is an Android live-wallpaper app provided by FlannelGames. This policy explains how Fluidity handles information when you use its wallpapers, settings and optional features, and how to contact us about privacy.
App package: fluidity.app
Privacy contact: contact@flannelgames.co.uk
Overview
Fluidity's wallpaper effects run on your device. The current app does not include advertising, analytics or a third-party crash-reporting SDK, does not require an account, and does not request Android's Internet permission. It does not upload your images, home-screen information, calibration screenshots or sensor readings to FlannelGames or an advertising service. Android backup, Google Play services outside the app, visiting this website and voluntarily contacting us are separate activities described below.
We do not sell personal information or use accessibility information for advertising or tracking.
Settings, presets and images you choose
Fluidity stores your selected wallpaper mode, colours, effect settings and saved presets in its private app storage so it can restore your choices. If you select an image through Android's picker, Fluidity reads that selected image and creates a resized local copy for use as a wallpaper. Saving a preset can also save a copy of its image. Fluidity does not request broad access to your photo library, contacts, location, microphone or camera.
The original image remains in the location from which you selected it. Disabling image mode does not by itself delete Fluidity's saved copy or copies associated with presets.
Optional Accessibility Service
Fluidity uses Android's AccessibilityService API for an optional feature called home-screen layout detection. Fluidity is a wallpaper app, not a tool whose primary purpose is supporting people with disabilities. This access is not required to use the wallpapers; without it, effects can render behind icons without reacting to the real home-screen layout.
After you opt in within Fluidity and enable the service in Android Accessibility settings, the service can operate while the home screen is visible, even when Fluidity's settings screen is closed. It identifies your default launcher and reads launcher element geometry and structural information, such as positions, sizes, visibility, view identifiers and element types. This allows supported effects to interact with app and folder icon shapes and respond to home-screen page changes. Widgets are excluded from collision shapes.
The service also checks system-window metadata, including window type, size and focus, so it can pause effects when a large overlay such as the notification shade covers the screen. It does not read notification message content for this purpose.
Fluidity does not read accessibility-node text or content descriptions to analyse messages or labels, traverse other apps' content, record what you type, or perform taps, gestures or other actions on your behalf. Launcher and window observations are processed locally. Current layout geometry is held in memory rather than saved as a history of your home screens.
Optional screenshot calibration
Screenshot calibration has a separate in-app explanation and opt-in. When enabled on supported Android versions, it temporarily changes the wallpaper background and captures images to estimate the visible size, offset and shape of launcher icons. It can run when an unmatched icon tile type or launcher/display configuration requires calibration, or when you request recalibration; it is not continuous screen recording.
On Android 14 and later, calibration targets the launcher window. On Android 11–13, the available capture API captures the display while the launcher is active. Captured pixels may therefore include personal information visible on the home screen, such as widget content, labels, status information or an overlay present at capture time. Widget pixels may appear in these temporary images even though widgets are not used as collision objects.
Screenshots are processed in memory on your device, are not written to image files or uploaded, and are discarded when calibration completes or is cancelled. Fluidity saves only derived numeric icon profiles, such as tile dimensions, icon offsets, relative sizes and corner shapes, associated with the launcher and display configuration. It does not save the screenshot content or a list of app names as part of these profiles.
Device-motion sensors
If you enable a device-tilt effect, Fluidity reads the device's gravity sensor or accelerometer to adjust the wallpaper's motion. Readings are processed locally for the effect; Fluidity does not save a sensor history or transmit readings to us.
Storage, security and Android backup
Saved settings, presets, imported image copies and calibration profiles use Android's private app storage. Access is protected by Android's application sandbox and your device's security controls. Temporary layout and screenshot data is kept in memory only for the relevant operation. No storage or security mechanism can provide an absolute guarantee against every risk.
Fluidity permits Android backup and device-to-device transfer. Depending on your device and backup settings, Android or your device's backup provider may back up or transfer app settings, saved presets and imported image copies. Saved icon-calibration profiles are expressly excluded from both cloud backup and device transfer. FlannelGames does not operate this backup service or receive your backups. Manage backups through your device and backup provider's settings; their privacy practices apply to that processing.
Google Play and Android may separately handle installation, purchase or platform diagnostic information under their own settings and privacy policies. Fluidity does not embed an analytics or crash-reporting service to upload wallpaper or accessibility data.
Your choices, retention and deletion
You can turn off home-screen layout detection and screenshot calibration in Fluidity, and disable the Fluidity accessibility service in Android Settings > Accessibility. Turning off a feature stops its use but does not automatically erase previously saved settings, profiles or image copies.
You can delete user-created presets inside the app; their associated saved image copies are deleted with them. Recalibrate icons clears saved icon profiles and allows new profiles to be generated if calibration remains enabled.
To delete all locally stored Fluidity data, use Android Settings > Apps > Fluidity > Storage > Clear storage (wording varies by device), or uninstall Fluidity. This removes the app's local settings, presets, image copies and calibration profiles, but not your original photos. These local files otherwise remain until replaced, deleted or the app's storage is cleared. Backups are managed separately and may restore data when you reinstall; use your backup provider's controls to manage or delete them.
We cannot remotely retrieve or delete information held only on your device or in a backup account we do not control.
Contacting us and visiting this policy page
If you email contact@flannelgames.co.uk, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to provide. Our email provider, Zoho, processes that correspondence to deliver and store it. We use it to answer your enquiry, resolve support issues and meet applicable legal obligations. Please avoid sending sensitive screenshots or other personal information unless necessary for your request. We keep correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, then delete it unless a legal obligation requires retention.
This policy page is hosted using GitHub. When you visit it, your browser sends technical information, such as your IP address and request/browser information, to the hosting service to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from Fluidity's on-device wallpaper processing. GitHub and Zoho may process information outside your country under their respective privacy terms. This policy page does not itself include advertising or analytics scripts.
We do not share support correspondence for advertising. Our hosting and email providers process information to provide their services; information may also be disclosed where required by law.
Privacy requests
For privacy questions or requests concerning information you have provided to FlannelGames, email contact@flannelgames.co.uk. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, or receive a portable copy. Optional on-device access is based on your choice to enable the feature and can be withdrawn through the controls above. We use support correspondence to respond to requests and for our legitimate interest in supporting and securing our services, and where necessary to comply with law. Where applicable, you may complain to your local data-protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Fluidity's features or data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or request consent within the app where required. Contact contact@flannelgames.co.uk if you have questions about a change.
